Red, White and Boom Report  7/9
We sold $966 of blinky glasses at the Red, White and Boom celebration in downtown Davenport on July 3rd. The "blinky lights" added to the fun, and many of the spectators wore the glasses during the fireworks.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and showed up to help!!

BOP Announcement  6/30
Financial Updates:
Air Show: We received a check for $700. FYI: Our intro letter from the concession company said about $2,000 for this event. A special thanks to those of you that worked long hours at this event.

Car Wash: We made about $425. A huge thinks goes to Sudlow for allowing us use of their facilities at the last minute. Again we are also very apperceive of our hard working parent and student volunteers at the car washes.

Future Car Wash: We would like to do a multiple site car wash the last Saturday in August. Would you be willing to organize this event for us?

Volunteer Opportunities: Remember that you get a $50 price break for your marching band charges when your student or family puts in 10 hours. We have had a lot of students and parents sign up to help and then not return calls from chairman who needed their help. Our group has always depended on absolutely everyone pitching in and doing their part. Are you doing yours?

Announcement from BOP  6/25

Odyssey DVD: The awesome Odyssey DVD (Marching Band Show from 2007) is in the proofing and polishing stages! It will be available for pick up at the beginning of band camp. Special thanks go to Eli Capdevila for his hard work in producing this for us. We also want to think our photographers: Michelle Rudnick, Belen & Kathy Mata, Nancy Nelson, and Abby Davis

Sibling Transfers: If you need to transfer fair share amounts between siblings due to a graduation, now is the time to let us know. Please contact: Kathy Quinn at CHSmusic2004@aol.com .

Air Show: Huge thanks to those of you that volunteered hours at the air show. We appreciate you! I will let you know totals as soon as we know them.

Rummage Sale: We would like to have a rummage sale in either August or September if we can have either one or two more co-chairs. We have one person willing to co-chair, but she would like to share the job. If you are willing to help, please email CHSmusic2004@aol.com .

Birdies for Charity Pledges Due June 27  6/23
***Parents: You can choose to make donations (as a patron or adopt an instrument sponsor)  and pay certain fair share band fees through the John Deere Classic golf tournament Birdies for Charity fundraiser. In addition, BOP will receive a 10% bonus on all dollars pledged through Birdies. Many donors choose to donate a designated amount of money rather than an amount per birdie.

You do not pay anything now. You fill out a pledge form and send it to Dianne DaGama at 2116 E 45th St, Davenport, IA  52807 by June 27.

After the golf tournament, you'll be mailed a notice of your pledge amount due. Your payment will be sent to Birdies for Charity and the payment is due to them by September 25, 2008.

Only Patron or Adopt an Instrument pledges are tax deductible. For individual student payments through Birdies, you are receiving some kind of goods or benefits, and therefore that portion is not tax deductible. You do help BOP by using Birdies for your individual payments and Patron/Adopt an Instrument donations because of the 10% bonus the group receives.

If you have any questions, pleas contact Dianne DaGama at 441-9871 or email her at drdagama@msn.com Thank you for your generosity!

Summer Jazz  6/13
Summer Jazz Band is back at Central this year! This fun summer activity is voluntary and open to all students who play or would like to play jazz instruments (trumpet, trombone, saxophone, rhythm section.)

Our first rehearsal is on June 24th, with several rehearsals in July and August. The group will perform their summer selections at the Ice Cream Social on August 20th

Please see the Downloads page for complete schedule and information.
Message for Marching Band Parents from BOP  4/27
Marching Band Parents:

Thanks to all those of you who attended the Mon. meeting and turned in your volunteer forms! If you still have your form, please fill it out and send it to school. If you missed the meeting, you can print a form from the Downloads page.

REMEMBER: to get the lowest band fee rate possible, parents need to contribute at least 10 volunteer hours! There are many opportunities to help, and we rely heavily on our parent helpers to make events happen. Thank you for getting involved!

If you prefer, you can email your volunteer interests to Jo Souder Vandecar, josivan@revealed.net, or call her at 323-5318. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO WITH NEW FAMILIES OR OTHERS WHO MIGHT NOT YET BE IN OUR "COMMUNICATION LOOP!"

HyVee Coupon Book Fundraiser  11/28
We have just picked up new coupon books that expire at the end of 2008. For every HyVee Coupon Book you sell for $5, you receive $4 in your Fair Share Account to be used for trips and charges. These would make great holiday gifts!

You may:
Buy a book to show potential buyers, collect the money and deliver later
            OR
Buy several books and sell them.

For each book you take you must:
     1. Put your name on an envelope sealed with $5 per book inside.
     2. Deposit the envelope in the Band and Orchestra Payment Box in the band directors’ office.
     3. Take the number of books you paid for.

You MUST pay for each book before you take it.
